About Me

 

I was born and raised in Hawaii, and from early on I have had a strong relationship with nature. Whenever I can find the time, you’ll catch me hiking or backpacking to secluded places, or laying on a beach listening to the waves. The clarifying power of fresh air or a simple walk in the forest never ceases to amaze me.

My relationship with deeper mind/body healing began through my experience with yoga, and later personal psychotherapy. I developed an undeniable realization that the ways in which we experience ourselves, others and the world around us is far more than a mental experience, but rather an embodied experience. By this logic, healing must occur in both mind AND body. With the support of teachers and therapists, I learned to utilize my physical form as a resource of information and a conduit for deeper healing, and truly developed a felt sense of safety and comfort in my own skin. This was new to me. This personal process was incredibly transformative and led me to pursue a counseling degree in Somatic Psychotherapy in the service of assisting others.

I’ve learned that true and deep healing can occur with the right tools and intentions AND that health, including mental, physical and spiritual, is an ongoing practice of self-care and nourishment. I’m honored to use Somatic Psychotherapy to help support others in their own healing journeys.
